Word pooing!

Isn´t it fascinating how you somehow always find something more interesting to do when you really should be studying?

Home exams sucks! Especially dodgy culture ones! Get a grip! There´s no right or wrong just words.. so I gotta sit here and do what we in Sweden call "WORD POOING" (ordbajsa!) and yeah sure sometimes it´s really easy to do so but right now.. its NOT! Aww!

I´m stuck!!!!! Frankly I just want my X-mas holiday now, coz I desperatly need it! The only things that keeps me alive is that Betty and I have DJ-sets on Thursday and Friday. Indie Lucia/BBS here we come! Looking forward to see Mon Roe live aswell.. other than that kiss my sweet baby butt filosophy!!

Band Of The Week: MGMT

Band of the Week:

MGMT

Yay! Brooklyn´s saviours are here!
The five-piece band MGMT pronounced "Management" started out with Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser who met at Wesleyan University in Middleton, Connecticut, where they both studied music. They started out doing covers of the Ghostbusters theme song then moved on doing more serious writing together.

The fellas got a major deal (signed to Colombia Records) and their debut album, Oracular Spectacular, (out january) is produced by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann.

So what does MGMT sound like? Well "basically" it´s synth/space/rock/pop/country/surf-ish. The 70´s inspired psychadelic flowerpower video Electric Feel brings your thoughts to Jackson 5 with a touch of Klaxons...

Their influences: Early Rolling Stones and New Order on acid.

Songs You Gotta Hear:
x Time To Pretend
x Weekend Wars
x Electric Feel

Band of the Week: THE FAY WRAYS

Band of the Week:

The Fay Wrays

The London based band The Fay Wrays is WAH!! (wicked as hell!)

Actress turn singer does not usually turn out very well... In this case the turning point and quick trip to rehab seem to have done it! The model looking singer Lucie may be an exception and if that´s the case, she sure proved all of us wrong.

Their influences: A mix of Patti Smith, Velvet Underground and The Kinks.

There´s also a strong resemblance with Lucie´s brother Carl, yes they share the surname, Barât. If you like Dirty Pretty Things, you MOST CERTAINLY like The Fay Wrays.

The distinct base and guitar riffs and with lyrics like this one taken from War Cry, "You may call my a narcissist, but I just need to know that I exist...", how can you ever argue with that!?

Songs You Gotta Hear:
x War Cry
x Speed Of The Flight
x Poet Casanova
